,
Paleo Recipe :

BBQ season is upon us. For those of us living with Celiac Disease or an intolerance to gluten, it can be trying times.

Gluten-Free Recipe - Hamburger Buns For the Summer BBQ

Celiac Disease, a serious condition overlooked in this country, prevents the body from absorbing needed vitamins and minerals. It is a disease caused by a reaction to gliadin, a gluten protein found in wheat.

According to recent statistics, one in 133 people live with Celiac Disease, biggest problem being the majority of people do not know they are allergic to gluten. (The ImmunoCap blood test can now detect an allergy to wheat. Ask your doctor.) Perhaps a family member or friend of yours live with this condition. Then you can relate to how they feel excluded in social events with food that is just not within their diet.

If you live with Celiac Disease, remember how great it once was to chomp on a grilled hamburger bun? The ketchup, mustard, oh and don't forget to relish the relish! They don't have to be memories now with this fantastic gluten-free hamburger bun recipe below.

Here are the ingredients you will need:

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups gluten-free French Bread/Pizza Mix
  • 4.5 teaspoon gluten-free yeast
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2/3 cup powdered milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 stick butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon of cold-pressed olive oil

Mix the top 5 ingredients. Heat water to 110-115 degrees. Add butter and olive oil. Beat the eggs. Add to liquids. Beat to mix.

Add to remaining dry ingredients and beat for about 2 minutes high speed. Cover tightly and let rise for 40 minutes or until doubled in size. Beat for 2 minutes. Dough should be soft and sticky now.

Preheat over to 350 degrees. Grab a sheet of aluminim foil. Prepare strips of round aluminum foil and seal by crimping the ends. Lightly scoop the dough and scoop out enough to fill the little aluminim foil rings. Rub olive oil on the bottom of a fat drinking glass and gently press on the dough to evenly smooth the top. Now cover with plastic wrap and let rise to the top of the foil rings. Brush gently tops with olive oil before baking. Then bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden color of liking.

Fire up the all natural low-fat burgers and delicious vegetables on the grill and you are set. Now anyone living a gluten-free lifestyle can be included at your next backyard BBQ.

How to Adopt the Paleo Lifestyle for Healthy Living

,
Paleo Recipe :

Are you a health freak on a mission of finding a suitable diet? Then the Paleo lifestyle may not be entirely foreign to you. The word Paleo was coined from a Greek word which means 'ancient'. Followers of this diet are said to adopt a Paleolithic lifestyle, which means adopting the food habits of prehistoric humans as closely as possible. The positive aspect of this diet, which is also known as the 'caveman' diet or Paleolithic diet, is that it excludes the consumption of preserved and processed food items and dairy products. Chemical additives are also strongly opposed.

How to Adopt the Paleo Lifestyle for Healthy Living

The Paleo lifestyle advocates consumption of meats, nuts and plant foods with as little preparation as possible. Followers of this diet claim that the human body requires only the types of foods that was eaten by humans during the Paleolithic period. In fact, for more than 2 million years, the human race managed to survive only on natural foods that were rich in protein and low in carbohydrates. During the Paleolithic period, humans only ate what they hunted or foraged. Grains were also not part of their diet since there was no way to grind it into particles. Thus, wild game which consisted of meat from all vertebrates and fish were considered staple food.

With every passing day, our society is becoming increasingly health conscious and have come to shun products rich in saturated fats. Those who adopt the Paleo lifestyle find themselves consuming an alarming quantity of meats, thus taking in immense amount of protein. Followers of the Paleo diet also try not to consume dairy products, preferring organic alternatives. This keeps the diet as natural as possible. While foods containing sugar are shirked, Paleo dieters are encouraged to have as many fruits, berries and vegetables as possible. The result is that they end up eating only what is available or grown in a particular season.

The Paleo lifestyle enables man to arrive at harmony with nature and return to the foods that have helped mankind evolve into a superior species. Paleo lifestyle followers are of the opinion that diseases and conditions such as Osteoporosis, Alzheimer's, type 2 diabetes and hypertension have affected human bodies due to unhealthy eating practices prevalent today. Many people in modern society consume large quantities of foods that were once alien to their body's metabolism and genetic makeup.

The followers of the Paleo lifestyle also condemn governments of various countries who advocate the consumption of 'dead foods' such as grains, legumes and vegetable oils. These foods are often subsidized to make them easily available to the masses. Followers of the Paleo lifestyle firmly believe that adopting a diet based on objective scientific finding will enable them to live a longer lifespan, complete with vibrant health.

Quick-And-Easy Paleo Diet Recipes to Reduce Weight

,
Paleo Recipe :

Our reasons for wanting to lose weight and having a diet might vary from one to another. Say, to finally put on that sexy dress you're hiding in the bottom of your wardrobe closet, to pull off the 'washboard abs' look and flaunt it during the summer, to remove all those excessive fats and finally restore your dwindling self-esteem or to reduce weight to prevent the progression of a medical condition. Finally it all boils down to one single aim, and that is staying fit to reach the optimum level of health an individual can possibly achieve.

Quick-And-Easy Paleo Diet Recipes to Reduce Weight

A myriad of different diet have been introduced to the general population to help them reach their weight loss and fitness goals. There are Low-Fat, Low-Calorie and Low-Cholesterol Diets and heaps of other permutations and combinations possible. All of these diet plans have been designed with an aim of attaining a desired body weight.

If you consider the previously mentioned diets, they're commonly targeted at lowering consumption of calories, which in turn can not only lead to food cravings but many other related conditions associated with cutting down food consumption. However, there is good news for such food deprived folks, as a plan actually promotes high consumption of food, especially meat and fruits, known as the Paleo Diet.

Paleo diet is based on the diet of our ancestors, which means that it is mainly composed of protein-rich foods like animal meat, nuts and seeds, sea foods, fruits and vegetables. Following this diet would also mean that foods rich in carbohydrate should be little to nothing at all, meaning-no more pizza, cake, rice, legumes, potato and other starchy food sources.

The thought of a meal plan without the aforementioned foods can be quite staggering, but only for a few weeks. There are many recipes that you can use to spice up your diet.

Take a tomato for example, a fruit with anticancer property. You can eat it raw, bake some with a sprinkle of parsley and season with black pepper, and make a spicy tomato soup or cold soup with fresh veggies and tomato broth. See, you can eat it in so many different ways!

Another one is apple. Aside from eating raw, you can also combine it with pork and turn it into a scrumptious meal. You can also mix it up with lemon, orange and honey and turn it into an apple based cider.

If you're worrying about eating a bland meal when you think about Paleo diet, you can check out various recipes and Paleo cookbooks and see for yourself that you're never going to be bored living like a caveman!
